We All Deserve a Shot at Developing | Polaroid, Memories & My Father's Legacy
With all the talk of the Blue Moon that occurred on May 31, 2026, there was emphasis on looking back at what you put into motion two years ago. Two years ago for me, was the day before my 39th birthday. Some things that happened that day I put in motion intentionally, others I did not, but they all definitely feel like they are coming to a head now. Be it the Blue Moon, or simply time passing, these last two years have been some of the most transformative of my life.
Coming Full Circle on a Thursday
This time last year I was getting ready to spend a month on the road following L.S. Dunes on tour. Strangely (happily?), I'm doing the same thing again this year, just a different band (okay same drummer but still).
I’m in Philly now as I write this and watched Thursday start their Full City Devolution tour last night and oh boy is this gonna be a special tour.
This Way to the Barricade: Reclaiming Joy Through Live Music
Last year, what I thought would serve as an escape, a respite from a world that was burning, both literally and figuratively, turned into something much more. By deciding to drive across the country to support L.S. Dunes’ first major U.S. tour, I was reminded of what it feels like to really be alive, to truly live a life and make it meaningful in whatever way brings you happiness.
Live Music vs. Filmmaking: A Creative Identity Crisis
Well, isn’t that just like me, starting a project with all the enthusiasm in the world, only to watch it get pushed to the back burner while life gets in the way.
Not that I’m complaining about how life turned out last year. I accomplished more than I set out to do, and somehow also less, yet I still feel an immense sense of success.
Na Na Na in Simlish?! When My Chemical Romance, Rise Against, and Circa Survive Went Digital
If Linkin Park reprogrammed how I saw concerts, The Sims reprogrammed how I saw storytelling. And when bands like My Chemical Romance, Rise Against, and Circa Survive entered The Sims universe, it felt like two worlds colliding, music and gaming finally speaking the same language.
BAND AIDE ORIGINS: My First Linkin Park Concert, Roadtrip and Love Affair with Live Music
My first CD? Green Day’s Dookie at age nine (which my mom promptly made me return, the first of many battles over music taste). My first concert? No Doubt at the Delta Center when I was eleven. My first job? Selling tickets at that same arena, purely so I could score free shows.
But the real turning point came at seventeen. My dad and I drove from Sandy, UT, to Phoenix, AZ, to see Linkin Park.
MAD-Life-Crisis: The Death of the American Dream (and the Rebirth of Mine)
Not to be a downer, but I think we can all agree the “American Dream” has turned into a full-blown nightmare for those of us of a certain age.
You know who I’m talking about: the “Elder Millennials”. We grew up in a moment of analog magic. A little anonymity. A little room to breathe. We lived for the now. The thrill of walking away with physical concert tickets after camping out at Smithtix felt like winning the damn lottery. The devastation when the VCR ate our favorite movie was real.
