MAD-LIFE: EDIT BAY

Edit Bay

This page is my control room, my Edit Bay, so to speak: the snapshots of having lived in the endless schedule of split days on TV sets, of making the impossible possible before the director calls for the “Martini”, a glimpse into the tools, the processes, the passion, and persistence it takes to bring my big ideas to the small screen.

Above: A clip from my first-ever produced short: “Moving Day”. I made this claymation movie with my dad. He provided the backdrop and the video camera (the Sony Hi-8 i still have to this day) and helped me frame by frame bring my undertakers to life, as well as the star Corpse back to life. At 16-years-old, while this may not be my finest work and many a mistake were made, some of my fondest memories are of this time with my dad, cheering me on, making movies.

This little short was entered into the First Annual Murray Film Festival, where it won for “Best Comedy”. I’d also volunteered to teach a group of sixth graders about screenwriting, and at the same festival, our script won for “Best Screenplay”.
